The one-time golden boy of Scottish football looked set to hit the big time in 2006, sealing a dream move to Glasgow Celtic after being courted by footballing giants such as PSV Eindhoven, Anderlecht, Kaiserslautern, Rangers and leeds, and following a prolific few years at Cowdenbeath and Hibernian. But Edinburgh born Riordan was unable to shake off his image as a troublemaker, and several court appearances and two barren seasons later, Riordan cut his losses and returned to the capital for a second spell at Hibernian. Riordan has been capped once by Scotland, appearing as a substitute against Austria in Graz in 2005.
