Alex Mcleish, met by Neil at the Scotland youth international, Firhill Stadium, Glasgow.

Alex McLeish's time in charge of Scotland was brief (8 games) and, ultimately, unsuccesful, however he will be eternally remembered as one of Scotland's greatest ever managers after guiding the side to the brink of European Championship glory, the highlight of which was a stunning and unforgettable 0-1 victory over the mighty France in Paris. During his reign he presided over 5 wins and 3 defeats, 2 of which came against World champions Italy. In his playing days, Mcleish was a powerful centre half for both Aberdeen and Scotland, becoming a legend in both Red and Blue. He has since managed Motherwell, Hibernian and Rangers, as well as Scotland. McLeish resigned from the national team in November 2007 following the side's failure to qualify for Euro 2008, and was appointed manager at Premiership strugglers Birmingham shortly after. Despite signing Scotland hero James McFadden, the club suffered relegation to the Championship, but both McCleish and Faddy pledged their future to the club, as they aim to bounce back to the Premiership at the first attempt.
